Character name: Hadlan
Class: Mage

Why do you want to join the Cult?: I've been interested in roleplay since I began playing WoW in vanilla, shortly before the release of The Burning Crusade. I've been in many roleplaying guilds and have been involved in a Blood Elf only guild, although this would be my first Forsaken only roleplaying experience - this is why I have been attracted to this guild, to try my hand at something new and exciting.

How did you come to learn about the Cult: I saw an advertisement whilst leveling in Tirisfal Glades.

Anything else you'd like us to know? I've been in many different roleplaying guilds, the leader of a successful roleplaying guild in the glory days of Wrath of the Litch King and an officer in two seperate roleplaying guilds.

So, you want to here my story? How I came to be one of the Forsaken? I never really became Forsaken, I was Forsaken well before I broke the barrier into unlife - my true life. I was born to a wealthy family of warriors, we lived in a large estate perched upon rolling hills of Westfall. I was raised a warrior, as were my brothers and sisters but I was much weaker physically than them. I failed my training as a Warrior which earnt the contempt of my siblings, only rivalled by the bitter, seething disappointment from parents.

Unable to cope with the only slightly masked hatred by my own family I turned to the bottle. Nights blended into days as I sat slumped with intoxication in my room. Eventually my parents tired of this behaviour and threw me out, but to tell you the truth... they were only looking for an excuse to be rid of me.

With no place to call my own I wandered into Duskwood and set up camp near the shores as a hermit, feeling more at home with the shambling corpses and wild animals than I ever had with my own flesh and blood. I snuck into the local settlements at night to steal food and reading material to keep me from going insane. One fateful day I stumbled across a book that would change my life forever, it was a study of the arcane arts - and it fascinated me.

After arduous years of study and practice, I finally mastered the art of magic. Favouring the clean efficiency of the arcane school. Now finally finding something that I could do I began my trek to Stormwind to study further. Once I had arrived I took up residence in a small flat and attended daily sessions, accompanied by mental work-outs at home. Due to this regrime I quickly increased in power and was spotted by a recruiter for the Westfall militia, wanting to guard my homeland no matter how badly it had treated me I accepted without a second thought.

I was stationed at a watch tower near my family's old home along with someone that I never expect, or wanted, to see again. My brother, Mikhail. Mikhail constantly mocked me for my weakness and called my switch to magehood a 'flight from what is strong and fair.' I put up with abuse because I knew deep down that I could destroy him with a simple flick of my wrist, I was very overconfident of my powers at the time.

One hot afternoon our battalion heard of a Gnoll raid on a small farmstead a few minutes march away, we donned our battlegear and set off immediately. What we hadn't expected was that the Gnolls were being lead by a group of pirates from deep within the Deadmines and they were battling with a ferocity and zeal that we had never seen before. Most of our unit was slain apart from me and my brother, I did not come off as lightly as him. I lay, clutching an open wound on my stomach, struggling for breath in a ditch. My brother approached me with an air of confidence after the battle, not damaged by his 'friends' dying - he seemed more happy than before, despite the tragic loss. I called out to him for help but he only laughed at me, gloating that a true warrior such as him could shrug off a wound like that. That night I died.

The next thing I knew I was being hauled from the ground by a burly Forsaken death guard, a Val'kyr beat its mighty ethereal wings behind him and looked satisfied with it's result. The result being me. I was touched, this was the most affection that I had ever recieved before in my life. I cast off my previous surname and assumed the identity of Hadlan Shallowgrave, loyal mage of the Dark Lady. I now search for an organisation to which me and my seething hatred of humanity can be of use, I hope to find this with you. Thank you for your time.

I'm sorry if my story ran on a little long there, but I had to finish what I had started. Thanks for reading this and I hope you consider me for your guild.

I had a talk with you ingame, and you seem like a friendly person OOCly, with quite a lot of experience in roleplay. Your application is also very well written.
In other words, no reason to not stamp 'accepted'!
Wait for another officer to second me, and you will soon be on your way to become a member of the Cult!

There are a few tidbits that I find, well, interesting. Most of it is good, but the one thing I get stuck at is the fact that you where hauled off in Westfall. A forsaken going all the way there when we've had such success with people from Hillsbrad and a few from Gilneas... Let me put it this way. From a Storytellers point of view you are giving an opening for LOTS of different things to throw your way. A simple but crude example would be something like "Haha, I'm your "father"" thingy. Wink

But otherwise, it is a pass from me I would say.
